Dr Ara Amai

Dr Ara Amai has been the director and founder of Cliff Top Health Centre since its inception back in 2009, and lives locally on the Fleurieu Peninsula with his family. Ara gained his Bachelor of Science degree at Adelaide University and went on to graduate from Macquarie University in Sydney with a Masters of Chiropractic in 2002. He returned home to put down his roots and care for the community and since then he has completed numerous post graduate courses. Ara is certified in Applied Kinesiology having retired from the Australasian Executive Board after serving for 7 years. He is qualified in Activator Methods and uses Activator and/or Manual adjustments wherever appropriate.

Ara enjoys looking after a variety of people from newborns struggling to settle into their early routines through to adults wanting to regain their health or keep themselves pain free.

Being an avid cyclist and having spent his life playing various sports Ara really enjoys working with athletes, from professionals to local weekend warriors. Numerous athletes seek Ara’s help to gain that extra edge or resolve a re-occurring problem.

Dr Peter KLEEMANN

We welcome home Dr Pete from interstate

Many of you may remember Dr Pete from spending 3 years from 2017-2020 alongside Dr Ara at Cliff Top Health Centre before moving interstate.

Originally from Milang on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia where his family still reside. Dr Pete completed his Chiropractic studies at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and holds multiple university degrees including a Bachelor’s (Complimentary Medicine), Masters degree in Clinical Chiropractic Science and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science (Human Movement and Health Studies). He was originally mentored by Dr Ara in Chiropractic Applied Kinesiology and is amongst a unique small cohort of Chiropractors around Australia who are Certified in Chiropractic Applied Kinesiology (ICAK). Dr Pete has since also trained in the neuro-emotional technique (NET), Retained Neonatal Reflexes (RNR) and neuroimmunology from his time in the Newcastle region. He has also completed and passed extensive examinations over the last year and is now a holder of a Diplomat in Chiropractic Paediatrics from the Australian Chiropractic College of Paediatrics, a 2 year intensive Diplomat focussed in on the area of paediatrics. He has recently been working with some of the Brisbane Lions mens players up in Queensland after forming some close connections within the elite football program with great results.

He loves chiropractic, beginning his journey with his family in chiropractic care as a 10 year old, and since then had the goal of becoming a Chiropractor after experiencing tremendous ongoing health and performance benefits through his very active sporting youth.

Dr Pete is passionate about staying well naturally, whilst having experience working with people along his journey from infants and Mum’s to the elite athlete. He has a love for NBA basketball and AFL and his hobbies include basketball, footy (AFL), personal development, functional fitness training and does enjoy a love of coffee. He has played at the South Australian State League junior and Victorian BigV basketball levels, whilst also playing in the South Australian Hills Football League for multiple teams; suburban Melbourne and country Victoria in aussie rules, as well as coaching in that space.

Over the past several years Dr Pete has been interstate and mentored by some of the Australia’s leading Paediatric and Applied Kinesiology chiropractors both in South Australia and Newcastle/Hunter Valley region until a move to Queensland in 2021.

Nadia Henriks

MASSAGE THERAPIST

​Nadia’s treatments incorporate a number of modalities to assist people with a variety of issues. She has a lot of ‘strings’ to her bow which range from relaxation to remedial massage and both the immediate treatment of acute injuries and the ongoing management of chronic conditions.

Nadia’s passions include a range of sporting activities from following footy (come on Leggies!) to tennis, cricket, and especially cycling. Nadia’s creativity extends to her commitment to the brass band community, where she has been actively involved as a musician and drum major for over 30 years.

You can choose the conversation topic during a session such as music or sport or you can ask for quiet time. She prefers two-way communication to ensure her client’s needs are met.

Jo Herbert

MASSAGE THERAPIST

Jo has been working clinically as a Remedial Massage Therapist for over 20 years. Her techniques include Deep tissue massage, Relaxation massage, Cupping and Hot stone therapy.

Jo takes a nurturing approach to helping her clients restore balance in their bodies. She will often advise corrective exercise therapies and Yoga postures to holistically assist optimal outcomes.

Claire Amai

DIETITIAN AND NUTRITIONIST

Claire is a dedicated Dietitian and Nutritionist who is genuinely passionate about helping you lead a healthier life.  With a warm and encouraging approach she strives to empower her clients to make positive changes that improve their overall health and well-being.

Her journey in the field of nutrition counselling started with a  Bachelor of Science Degree, with a major in Psychology, at the University of Tasmania in 2001. She then went on to complete a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics from Flinders University in 2003.  

Claire’s client-centred approach ensures that your individual needs and preferences are carefully considered. She provides personalised nutrition advice and works with you to set realistic, achievable goals to make your journey to a healthier lifestyle more manageable. As a certified Health Coach, Claire uses strategies to help you develop mindfulness and positivity around eating habits, fostering a healthier relationship with food.

Claire understands that embarking on a health journey can be daunting. Her compassion and understanding creates a safe and supportive space where you can overcome any initial fears and take that important first step towards positive change.

With experience working in a variety of settings, including private practice, hospitals, and community health centres, Claire has gained skills across diverse nutritional areas. She takes a particular interest in weight management, Diabetes, Impaired Glucose Tolerance, and gastrointestinal issues including Coeliac Disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

Outside of work Claire is a foodie who enjoys cooking and experimenting with recipes, particularly modifying them to cater to people with food allergies or intolerances. She also loves spending time outdoors, particularly bushwalking or trips to the beach with her family.
